✧ Software and equipment

  • What do you draw with?

    • iPad Pro 10.5 2017
  • What app do you use?

    • Clip Studio Paint
    • I used to use: Procreate (until 2021), Photoshop (until 2019)
  • What brushes do you use?

    • Hoarse oil for smoother parts of the painting. Usually for rendering the face, blending, and adjusting details. Note: for the image on the right, I used this brush on top of a layer I applied gaussian blur to.
    • Thick coating Brush Set for texture and laying down the initial values/base colors. The one below is my favorite and I use it the most!

    • oil pen for some base colors and hair.
    • Flat Thick Coloring Brush 2 for thick brush strokes, works best when painting on one layer imo.
    • Sharp Watercolor for blending. I only use it on hair highlights these days.
  • What art supplies do you recommend?

  • How often do you draw?

    • I usually draw every day, but there's no pressure to do that as an artist! I just really like it a lot, it's therapeutic
  • How long have you been drawing for?

    • I've been drawing digitally since 2013, but I've only been studying seriously (doing practice, finding academic art resources, etc.) since 2020

  • How many layers do you work on?

    • I have a habit of merging everything into one layer as I go
    • I make separate layers for value adjustment using blending modes, but I end up merging half of them down later on
    • I also use separate layers for details and accessories and I usually don't merge these
  • How long does a drawing take?

    • A fully-rendered piece takes around 10 hours, but a lot of the rougher pieces I post on Instagram take around three
  • How do you render?
